Cheah comes with over 18 years of experience across technology, business strategy, industry development and services globalization including policy development for various large regional conglomerates. His principal expertise lies in business process reengineering, Strategic Planning, IT Direction and Policy, System Integration, Operational Processes and supporting regional manufacturing and IT operations. His experience across both manufacturing and services sectors has immensely contributed to a breadth of capabilities that he continues to leverage as he creates value for both his customers and the industry in general. Cheah also exemplifies comprehensive project management capabilities for complex programs involving quality, MBO, supplier localization, synchronization of total supply chain across production planning & control, purchasing, logistics, inventory management and e-procurement.

Sunway Group is a large Malaysia-headquartered conglomerate with diversified businesses spanning construction, property development, trading, quarrying, manufacturing, theme parks, medical & healthcare, Higher Education and hospitality chains.

Cheah is principally responsible for complete consolidation, standardization and optimization of Common and some specific IT systems supporting the group’s various entities both locally and globally. Recently the group has given Cheah the mandate to also replicate the IT SSC model’s success with its varied business processes, with the ultimate goal of transforming the shared services entity into an independent third-party services provider spanning both technology and business process capabilities that ultimately create a new revenue generation stream for The Group.

In addition, Cheah plays an active role in industry development particularly as it relates to enabling Malaysia transform itself into a knowledge economy through development of capabilities spanning information technology and communications such that higher value-added services and products are developed in Malaysia. Cheah’s particular passion, and hence his plenitude of contributions lie in the areas surrounding human capital management and outsourcing.

He is Chairman – Human Capital Revamp Committee for PIKOM and Head - Human Capital Development for Outsourcing Malaysia, a not-for-profit consortium of service providers whose principal aim is to position Malaysia as an attractive and differentiated destination for high-value technology and business services. He also sits on the Council of PIKOM [the larger Association of Computers and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia], a role that sees him actively lead and manage a variety of initiatives aimed at creating the next-generation of knowledge-enabled talent in the country.

Cheah is a regular speaker at both local and regional events on topics surrounding Shared Services and Outsourcing, CIO challenges, Knowledge Management and Business & IT Alignment. Cheah holds a Bachelors degree in science, majoring in Computer Science & Physics from Campbell University, USA.
